If you are considering a career in the police, whether it be in the United Kingdom or anywhere in the world then you will need to go through an application process and pass this successfully. Failure during the application process will mean you will not be able to join your local force.

The majority of candidates never get to realise their dream job and this is a real shame because the career path you choose is one that you will usually stick with for the next 20 or more years. How many people are currently in a job that they do not like, wishing that they could be something else?

A career as a police officer is a highly sort after one and as a result it also has a tough selection process to match. There is never a lack of demand for candidates lining up to join the force and go through the process.

By preparing yourself and working hard at each stage of the process you will keep yourself focused on that particular stage. Remember dont try to focus on the entire process this can be off putting and overwhelming.

During the process you will be required to undertake a number of police tests which test your writing ability, your numeracy skills and your logical reasoning.

When candidates come to take these police tests many are unsure of how to answer the questions and the reason for this is that they do not usually come across these types of questions. This type of testing is often referred to as psychometric testing and is used to test your suitability to the role of police officer.

If you are serious about becoming a police officer then you need to prepare for the police tests otherwise you will struggle during the assessment centre. The simply way to increase your chances is by practising these types of questions in the comfort of your own home.

By practising this will help you get used to working out and answering these questions and then when faced with the police test you will be calmer and more relaxed. The calmer you are the clearer you will be able to think and this will put you one step ahead of the other candidates.

The numerical testing section of the British recruitment process lasts for approximately 12 minutes where you will have a maximum of 25 questions to provide answers to. Each question will be followed by 5 possible answers and you will need to select the one you believe to be correct.
