Many people get in their cars after a long day at the office, loosen their ties, breathe a cleansing breath, and turn on whatever cruising music they prefer. Why these winding down rituals? Well, they are going home. They are leaving the stress of the workplace and traveling to their haven - whether that be a big city apartment, a house in the suburbs, or what have you.

Regardless of the size or shape, it is home. It is a place of respite. Imagine if you will that such a place did not exist. What if you couldn't leave the office, no matter where you went? Not a pretty picture, is it? The picture is getting bleaker thanks to VMware's servers.

The feeling you just got imagining being at the office 24/7 is the feeling that some might get when they think about VMware's newest mobile desktop virtualization technology. Sure, those in business management might love the opportunity to keep a constant eye upon their employers and to make their servers accessible from most any location, but the average employee begins to feel suffocated at the mere thought.

Visa's servers could then track any further usage of the card to aid in apprehending the thief. Another advantage to the new program is that Visa sends customers advertisements and/or coupons that relate to their purchases. This could help the customer save money in the future, if they were already planning to purchase the related items.

The promotional offers that Visa would send to the mobile owner could be both a blessing and a curse. They would be a blessing if the customer really needs the items that Visa's servers advertise. In that case, they would be saving money on their upcoming purchase.

Everyone should be able to log off of their office computer and go home. Creating these virtual PCs within mobile devices might be very appealing at first glance. Think of the capabilities! Look at little deeper, and one will see the unhealthy results.

Will VMware continue to lead the way in this area of virtualization? They appear to have the technology on hand in the form of vSphere 4, and they have certainly aligned themselves with some other heavy hitters. Just how successful this endeavor will be of course remains to be seen, but VMware is definitely on to something.

When all is said and done, there are advantages to this new technology, but the main aim of this VMware and Visa collaboration appears to be to stir up imagined need in consumers and to make it as easy as possible for them to fulfill their craving. Granted, many, many companies and products are designed with exactly the same ends in mind. This however, does not mean that the aim is pure.
