It is a frequent thing to hear terms like self motivated and go-getter when talking about the self employed, as well as a knack for creative thinking. We also see those people as being truly satisfied with life on a level most only dream of, a sense of pride at the end of the day and the happiness they desire. What is often thought to be the big question is can anyone feel this sense of pride after a days work? Unfortunately the answer is undeniably no.
The majority of people do not want the stresses and responsibility that are unavoidable in being their own boss, or even someone else's boss. They are comfortable following orders and rely on someone else to provide direction and motivation.
When you are your own boss, you must be very capable of finding information on your own. The self employed must also know how to gain leverage on themselves and know when and how to use that leverage to get things done.
Knowing how to motivate yourself effectively can really give you an enormous advantage and is critical in achieving the success you desire. Unfortunately most of us have trouble motivating ourselves when times get tough, but there is hope for them too!
Now I will give you an example to help you better understand what I mean by leverage: What did you work for at your previous or current job? What motivated you to work hard? Was it the pride in the work you did? Maybe it was the paycheck? What kept you going when you did not feel like working?
You used leverage on yourself. You knew if you didn't do your job you would not get paid. You knew if you did not teach your students well they would not be successful, etc. The list could go on forever.
Use this leverage over yourself to keep going. You have had this skill all along and now you know how to apply it.
