Long distance bills are expensive, and completely unnecessary! Voice over Internet Protocol or VoIP utilizes the same technology that has made postal correspondence nearly obsolete " the internet! Business Voip service works in the same way as a traditional office phone system; it just uses your existing internet connection instead of phone lines. The result is that most good VoIP providers include unlimited long distance for a flat fee, as opposed to the per minute charges from Ma Bell telecoms that drive up phone bills.

The majority of essential business services are not interchangeable. There isn't an alternative to expedited shipping with Fedex or DHL. Finding an alternative to the power company would be nice, but isnt a realistic option. High phone bills on the other hand are easily replaced.

A business class Hosted PBX (short for Private Branch Exchange) provides all the features that a small business needs to create a professional customer facing presence, minus the expense of enterprise level equipment. Think of how a hosting company's server hosts your website - a PBX company's server hosts your phone system in the same way! Business Voip providers give you a User Interface page that you can login to online, and then manage all the functions of your phone system, in the same way as you can manage your banking online, totally secure with complete control. You get Virtual Extensions, Auto-attendants, Voice Mail to Email, Call Forwarding, and Unlimited toll free numbers, all for a fraction of the cost, and much easier to manage.

HD voice will be as widespread as HD TV in no time. Traditional phone lines wont be able to use HD voice, similar to how the rabbit ears on old television sets cannot receive HD TV. HD voice only works over high-speed internet connections, like the T1 connection that many businesses have in their offices.

If your business has a high volume of calls, there is absolutely no reason not to use Voice over IP. Most VoIP companies are waving set up fees. While there is an up front cost of purchasing IP phones, the month to month savings on phone bills will soon offset this initial expense, and from then on bills will be much much lower.
