The ViSalus home business opportunity is making a name for itself in the network marketing industry. So is this company a scam or a legitimate home based business opportunity?

1) ViSalus - The Company

Blake Mallen, Nick Sarnicola, and Ryan Blair are the co-founders of the ViSalus Sciences company. Their vision for the company was to intertwine passion for people with health and a business opportunity. ViSalus is taken from the Latin derivatives "Vi," meaning Life, and "Salus," meaning Health and Prosperity. The company began in March 1997 and is based in Troy, Michigan. The company has branch offices in California also.

2) ViSalus Products

The ViSalus line of products contains traditional health MLM products such as vitamins, supplements, weight loss, and anti-aging products. The Vi-PAK products were the first for the company. The vitamin packs come in AM/PM pre-divided out packs. ViSalus ViPAK retails for $150 for a 30 day supply.

ViSalus brought to market a weight loss program called the Trim Slim Shape Program. They offer about every type of weight loss product including shakes, deter mints, a recipe booklet, personal journal, and a measuring tape to measure your success.

ViSalus NEURO products are a line of drinks and mixes that were developed to provide a boost for your body as well as your mind.

3) Compensation Plan

The ViSalus business opportunity is a network marketing business model. To join the company, you can either join as an "Associate" for $39, or the "Executive Success System" for $499. ViSalus has a unilevel compensation plan which means that you have to have a specified number of "qualified" legs as well as sales volume quotas. You also have to maintain a certain product "autoship" on a monthly basis to qualify for your commissions. As with any network marketing company, there are levels of advancement. With each level, the pay scale and bonuses increase.

4) Conclusion

In conclusion, ViSalus is not a scam. It is a legitimate MLM company that offers real products to people and the opportunity to earn an income. There are however, some significant limitations to a company such as ViSalus. The network marketing industry is extremely competitive. While ViSalus does offer legitimate products, they are still the pills, capsules, drinks, and powders that so many network marketers have come to hate. Why? Well, because it is difficult to differentiate your products from other companies such as Herbalife, Pharmanex, Usana, Noni, or any of the other hundreds of herbal supplement MLM firms around the world. What separates one company from the next? Often it is just one paid doctor's or distributor's view against another's.

Because of this, if you want to make it in the multi-level marketing industry you have to have a product that is unique and the first of its kind. You need to have a product that is highly consumable, but unlike any other. This will guarantee that you will have interested customers and be able to earn a substantial income.
