Affiliation is a relationship between companies wherein a company provides minor interest to another company. It is a give and take situation between both companies.
In our case today, it's pretty much the same. The only difference is that, we're not talking about big companies here. They're individuals who are helping each other to gain profit - a merchant and the affiliates which are usually website owners.

Per Click - This is probably the most common method where an affiliate will earn a certain amount if a potential customer clicks on a merchant link on the affiliate's website. The amount earned here is usually less than the other methods. However, it doesn't require the visitor to buy a product but merely click on the link.

If you are interested to become an affiliate, some things should be considered. One of which is to be fair. It is no longer a secret that there are affiliates who use dishonest means to get profits. You will get the benefits from it in the short term, but you and your merchant will surely incur losses in the long term. This is supposedly a give and take situation so it is better to give value so that you will receive the value that you deserve in return.
The other thing that you need to consider is how prepared you are for the outcome. Sometimes, it takes several days or even months before someone clicks on the ad. If you're on the per click agreement, then this is the last thing that you want to happen. To address this, I suggest you place contents that would increase the site's appeal. Low site visit can happen also if the product is just new or if the ad was poorly created.
So, to make money online with affiliate marketing, make sure that you know where the problem is coming from and address it right away.
