The reason being that if it is found that you have not included any prior incidents you have had with the police previously on your application form this may be seen as dishonesty and your application will no longer be considered. Honestly is always the best policy.
Identification is also important and as you can imagine falsely identifying yourself could put many people at risk, which is why it is asked that your identity is proved by way of a passport and driving licence. In addition to this, if you were not born originally in the country you wish to apply to work in then you will have to prove that you are legally allowed to live and work there.
When the application is completed and sent off, it is then a case of having to wait to see if you have been accepted to continue, and if this is the case your next step will be training, although before this begins you may need a medical to ensure you are healthy and fit enough to be an officer, and to partake in any physical activity this entails.
