Your muscle will react to the heavy lifting and will grow to compensate for the needed strength to lift the heavy weights. As you move on to heavier weights, the muscle will continually grow for strength compensation.

C) Have sufficient rest - Contrary to popular belief, your muscles don't grow while your lifting weights, they grow when they are resting. As you work out, your muscles are strained and flexed to their limit, especially if you lift the proper weights. When you go to sleep, the damage done to the muscles will be repaired and this is when they grow. 8 hours of sleep daily is the minimum requirement for proper muscle growth.

Chances are you've heard the hype about making hundreds from Ad Sense. Is it a myth or reality? Mostly, it is possible, however, few achieve it. This is because people are putting the code on their site with barely any thought and expecting to make hundreds from it.

Your ads can be customized in many different ways. Location is probably the most important and first thing you should be thinking about. Where should you be putting your ads? The best locations are in the upper left hand side bar (if you have one), just below the header, and right in the center of the page. One more place you can put it, is just below your text at the bottom of the page.

Now, let's think about style. Borders should be avoided since they provide a visual barrier between your text and the ads. To make the border invisible, make it the same color as your web page background. Also, the ad background should be the same color. If you are placing ads in different areas of your web page with different background, make sure you mimic this in your ads settings. Yes, you could be creating different ads for the same page. This is why templates or dynamics pages are important.

Next, we have the title color. It should be the same color as the active links on your site, the area that you are placing the ads in. This will allow the users to know that they can click on it. The URL and text color should be the same as the main text color in your site for the area that you are placing the ad in.

Now, if you've paid attention, you'll notice the same theme in the paragraphs above. Make the Ad Sense blend in with your site with the exact same colors of your site. Instead of thinking of them as ads, think of them as small areas of important text related to your site. People have developed "Banner Blindness" and anything that looks like an ad will not get any attention or clicks, people simply don't see them anymore.

Here are a few more tips that may help you along the way. Avoid image ads, opt for the text only version. Make sure that you maximize your ads. Ad links can be placed in navigational areas. Make the background and border the same as your site/area that you are putting the ad in. Make the link color the same as the links in the area. You can place a horizontal unit just below the header of your page. A vertical unit can be placed in any vertical navigational area you have, either above, below or within it.

If you have larger font on your site, create link units with only 4 links. If you have smaller font, create link units with 5 links. You may want to also consider changing the font on your site to be more inline with the ads.

At the surface level, 'purpose' and 'goal' seem to be very similar. In fact, my thesaurus tells me they're synonyms. It might appear that we can use them interchangeably. But in parsing the definitions of these words, we discover they're as different as night and day.

Goals are the specific objectives we strive to achieve, usually within well-defined parameters of space, time and resources. On the other hand, purpose is abstract. It's the 'why' behind any thought or deed. Purpose is not about achieving an objective it is more of a way of life. Purpose is enduring, whereas goals can be created, adjusted and discarded as needed.

Going beyond mere semantics, you can see the variation between purpose and goals in what you do at work. Goals can be the targets you set regarding the recruitment, retention, development and progression of your organization's workforce.

In contrast, purpose should be what the goals serve. You establish those targets to achieve a greater overarching aim, one that benefits the business and its shareholders.

For instance, you wouldn't bring in 1,000 employees just for the purpose of making your workforce larger, would you? Of course not. (At least I hope not.)

On the other hand, you might set a goal of bringing in these employees to prepare your organization to support its purpose and to ensure the success of an exciting new growth opportunity.

We often get lost and confuse our goals with our purpose, both with our companies and our families. I will never forget teaching a leadership development session in a Fortune 500 company that not only involved executives - it involved the spouses or partners of the executives. As part of the session, executives received feedback from their partners.

Many executives learned that their partners felt ignored or put in 'second place' compared with work. When the executives were asked, 'Why are you working so hard?' they invariably said, 'Because I want my family to have a great life.' Their partners almost always replied, 'We have more money than we will ever spend. We would just like to see you more!'

Many executives had clearly let their goal (make a lot of money) become more important than their purpose (create a great life for themselves and their families).

I bring this up because the distinction between a goal and a purpose sometimes can be lost on talent management professionals - we can get so absorbed in our own limited objectives, thinking that these are our raison d'etre.

A good friend of mine left consulting to become the executive vice president of HR for a huge corporation. He reviewed a study of the company's employee benefits and found some benefits were costing the company millions of dollars and delivering very little that the employees actually valued.

When he suggested cutting the benefits to save the company money, he was told he was 'confused' by his HR staff members. They noted that cutting these benefits would mean a smaller budget for the HR department and less power for them. They had become so interested in 'building their empires,' they had forgotten about making a return on investment for their stockholders.

The idea that the purpose of the organization should come before the goals of any one part of the business seems to be simple enough. Yet why do many of the leaders in talent management (and to be fair, in other areas of business, as well) so often fail to get it?

The answer is rather simple: When a goal is designated, it tends to become a fixation for highly motivated people. Add to that the pressures that come with tight deadlines, struggles for finite resources and organizational turf battles, and it's not hard to see how our own goals can absorb any of us.

The solution to this problem is equally simple, although it isn't necessarily easy. It requires honest, perhaps even painful, introspection and reflection. Conduct a thorough analysis of your goals. Ask yourself, 'What goals are consuming my time and energy?' and 'What goals are consuming the company's resources?' Rank your goals in terms of cost. Then look at the true purpose of your organization. Rank your goals in terms of 'contribution to the purpose.'

If we are honest in our assessments, most of us will find some clear discrepancies between 'cost of goal achievement' and 'contribution to our purpose.'

When this happens, we can step back, take a breath and realign our goals, successfully completing our 'to do' list with our purpose - successfully doing what really matters.

There are many other ways to get yourself slapped, but I think you may be getting the picture. Now, what you REALLY want to get from Google is what is referred to as "Google Love."

The solar cells, depending on the number installed on the vehicle, can produce more or less 1000 watts of power from the sun's rays. To give you an idea, 1000 watts is just enough electricity to power an electric iron or even a toaster.

And since the sun will most likely be covered by clouds at one time or the other, or the car goes through a tunnel or something, solar cars are equipped with batteries to serve as backup power supply for the motor. The battery packs are charged by the solar cells. However, the batteries are not charge while driving the solar car unless you intend to go very slow.

Just like a gas pedal in conventional motors, a motor controller regulates the amount of electricity that enters the motor to speed up or slow down the vehicle whenever needed. Solar cars are not that slow as perceived by almost everyone. These cars can go to as fast as 80-85 mph.

With this, you can see why solar cars are not yet into commercial production. Nowadays, solar cells can harness more than 21% of the sun's energy that hit the surface. If the time comes that the cells can actually get more energy from the sun then maybe we can see solar cars on the streets. But at this time, it is quite difficult to make a commercial production model of a solar car.

Nevertheless, there are companies who have already created some concept solar cars and are testing how road worthy they are. There's even a scooter that is street legal and runs from batteries charged from photovoltaic cells. Other possible application of solar car technologies is on golf carts which runs pretty slow in the first place and can be appreciated by golfers as well.

The future of solar energy on transportation is still not that clear. The application of solar energy on homes and buildings has been moving forward in recent years so hopefully we can find new ways of converting the sun's energy into usable electricity. And this time something that can be economically and efficiently installed in conventional cars.

Collateral Damage: Suicide and Economic Recession

Economic recession and depressions are well known to bring about depression and suicidal risks. There are stories of businessmen jumping out of windows following the stock-market crash of 1929.

Unknown to many, people who commits suicide in the wake of economic recessions and financial crises are not individuals with pre-existing mental illnesses. They are commonly middle-aged men in the verge of debt and bankruptcy.

About sixty percent of suicides in 2006 (worldwide) happen in the Asia Pacific region. In Japan, Sri Lanka, and some parts of China report that more than 20 out of 100,000 citizens kill themselves each year. More than twice as many in Australia and New Zealand.

It is also relatively higher in places where it is culturally accepted like in Japan and India. When several countries in Asia- Pacific were hit by an economic crisis in mid- 1990s, there was a relative increase in the number of suicides among middle-aged men. This group were said to be the most affected group by the economic recession.

Aside from economic factors being a reason for suicide, it also has to do something with the Asian values in terms of shame and humiliation not being able to provide for the family.

In Asian culture, loss of face or shame is take more seriously than it is in Western culture. In Japan, there are samurais that took their own lives to avoid disgrace after a defeat. They call this tradition hara-kiri. There are some corporate executives who have done the hara-kiri tradition in the eve of an economic decline. A stretch of forest in Mount Fuji is called "the suicide forest" due to dozens of bodies retrieved from it every year.

Economic recession has great effects on the youth and children, poverty and financial difficulties have pushed them towards suicide. In Israel in 2003, a 15 year old killed himself when their electricity has been cut. In the suicide note, the teen-ager mentioned that he does not want to be a burden for his mother who raised him as a single parent.

In the Philippines back in 2007, an 11 year old girl ended her life because of poverty. In her suicide note, she wished that her parents will have a stable job and that her siblings would be able to go to school regularly. This incident drew attention towards the poverty programs the government has in the country.

Governments and concerned institutions globally are taking steps to address this issue.

An example would be the steps being undertaken by the Japanese government. Some new measures are changing work patterns to allow more flexibility and funding early detection and treatment programs.

The Japanese government are also providing better mental health counselling at the workplace, networks of community psychiatrists and public campaigns to raise the awareness of the problem. Telephone hot line services are also readily available. There is a new software being developed to filter out websites that promote group suicides. Australia, in Asia-Pacific, is the first country to initiate the prevention of web based suicide groups.

Aside from government efforts, there are personal ways you can do to help a suicidal person:

1. A suicidal person is carrying a burden that they can't handle anymore. Listening is important.

2. Be sympathetic, non- judgemental, patient, calm and understanding.

3. Avoid trying to offer quick solutions by belittling the person's feelings.

4. Dealing with a suicide threat is stressful. Seek assistance o decompress afterwards.

5. If personal efforts fails, don't blame yourself. It is the person's choice. It is wise to ask for grief counselling and suicide survivor support groups.
