Seasonal shortages were what originally gave rise to contract nurses and health professionals.Parts of the US that had a seasonal spike in population (warmer climates during traditional vacation times) needed extra staff to handle the inevitable increase in health care related services. This eventually lead to travel nursing industry we have today. Now there are many more facilities around the country using temporary staffing in the form of travel nurses than ever before.

Temporary staffing is an efficient way for hospitals to staff themselves without taking on long-term overhead. Today there is a shortage of nurses as well as many other health care specialists almost everywhere in the United States. Often times this short staffing can mean a loss of revenue and more likely a stressed out permanent staff. Contract help in the form of traveling nurses is generally more expensive in the short term but it does meet the short term need of health care providers.

It is expected that the nursing shortage will continue to grow as the baby boom generation starts to pressure an already overburdened health care system. There will, most likely be a need for travelers for the next 20 or 30 years, even if the shortage is reduced. There will still be seasonal needs, and many regions of the country will always have temporary needs.

Health care staffing agencies act as the intermediary between a traveler and the health care service provider. They bill the hospital (or another vendor) for the contracted rates, and pay the traveling nurse as an agency employee.

To provide a little industry jargon: the term often used for a traveling, contract health professional is 'traveler'. This term may apply to a respiratory therapist, surgical technologist, or RN.

A traveler is different from a per diem or local agency nurse. Travelers are contract employees. These contracts typically vary in length, with shift work of 36, 40, or sometime 48 hours a week. Many expenses of a traveling nurse has are paid by the agency they are employed by, unlike permanent or per diem employees. These expenses can include housing, travel, license, and certain other costs. Traveling nurses may have an allowance for meals, parking, or car rental. It is common to include health insurance as well. Agencies offer health insurance policies of varying quality and cost. Many health care staffing agencies have 401(k) retirement plans.

Should you decide to seek opportunities in travel nursing you can expect an interview with the staffing agency and a verbal agreement to details. Most contracts are standard, but some details can be negotiated. Other things you might expect: If you do not have a license in the state where your proposed assignment is, you will need to begin working on that with the agency. The agency will probably also have some mandatory testing for competancy, safety, drug screen, or the like. In your search for an agency you should look for an agency that fits your goals, objectives, and personality.

Lots of people are asking these questions now, but no one really knows for sure. We can offer up some near-term predictions, though.

Any industry is driven by demand. The demand for capital, and for buying and selling other companies will always be there - so investment banks themselves will continue to exist into the future.

Bonuses will be way down over levels in recent years, however. 2006-2007 will not return for a long time, and in the near future we're more likely to see 2001 levels for bonus payments.

Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley will also be affected - because they are now bank holding companies rather than pure investment banks. However, it's not like they'll suddenly start building ATMs everywhere - they will just be more diversified and have stricter regulation as a result.

What will bonuses at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley be? Well, they'll be down a lot - that much is certain. But it's mostly because the economy is so bad and because so few deals are happening - there's just not enough revenue right now.

"The era of the boutique" may be upon us. Massive talent has left the "old" Wall Street banks lately to pursue new advisory and investment firms, and there's no sign of it stopping anytime soon. The opportunities will lie with much smaller firms that are subject to less regulation and scrutiny.

Nothing in finance is really "safe." Banks, hedge funds, and PE firms have all been failing on a wide scale.

Is anyone still hiring? Yes - in fact, some firms are actually expanding. Funds of funds are still investing and hiring, and anything restructuring-related always needs more heads in a downturn. Hybrid consulting firms/banks have also been more popular lately.

Are we at the bottom? No, probably not. Things will get worse before they get better - and all the new regulation means that influence will shift to smaller firms rather than the established banks of the past.

If you want to break into the industry right now, you need to get outside the US and Europe and think about Asia and the Middle East. And consider positions outside investment banking - think about turnaround consulting, restructuring, and funds of funds - anything that is counter-cyclical is a good bet.

Just like any other field, investment banking must change over time, and investment bankers must adapt accordingly. It's extremely tough to break into the industry currently - but it can still be done with the right combination of persistence and focusing on the right type of firms.

Lamps and Sakura: The Nisei Festival

Nisei, in Nihonggo, means 'second generation' ('ni' meaning two, and 'sei' probably meaning generation). This month-long festival is held usually in August, with the main attractions heralding the first two weekends of the fest. Nisei Week draws the attention and the support of both Japanese and non-Japanese festival goers, due to its grand floats and parades, and the month long activities that soon follow. This 2009, the festival will be celebrating its 69th year.

The festival grounds of the Nisei festival is tremendous. Following the original structure of the Japanese matsuri (or festival), the streets are lined with booths that are filled with food, games, prizes and others. There was once a free-admission carnival and art show, but they were removed, and/or changed. Up 2006, an eating contest consisting of Japanese pot stickers or "gyoza" was added. The attraction was tremendous. Contestants each ate as much as nearing 200 or so.

The Tofu festival of Los Angeles was added. The festival was once a self-standing fest of sorts, but after the greater success of the tofu festival (beer was a factor that helped); it was now a festival that was held after the Nisei month.

They also have the Nikkei games, an open competition for everyone with running, martial arts and exhibitions. The Little Tokyo Anime Festival, another crowd bringer that spawns a massive amount of audience, most usually fans of Japanese animation (Girugamesh, anyone?). Cosplays and booths were comics are sold are usually rampant.

Ondo dancing, were people dance to the tune of a singer (sometimes lyrics being read off a magazine!) happen too. The choreographer has the dancers carry chochin lanterns as they will the night away, dancing in the streets. The audience can dance too, with little supervision as the dance is often times just easy to follow and easy for the bones. (Really!)

But it is unlikely that all of the derogatory information will be cleared from your credit report. Still, you can reasonably expect to see an improvement to your credit score. But this is just the first step to fix your credit for long-term, personal finance reasons. In fact, after seeing an improvement in your score, you should focus on managing the rest of your personal finances properly, including creating a realistic budget that will allow you to properly manage your credit.

Within The Climate Registry, there are organizational boundaries that define requirements for the accounting and reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. They specifically define which emissions an entity is tracking and reporting. A number of companies throughout North America are voluntarily providing this information on an ongoing basis in an effort to reduce the potential for global warming.

To define organizational boundaries, we need to look at an entity's operation and specifically whether it is controlled or owned by the reporting company. This reporting can be broken down on the basis of a controlled consolidation or an equity share.

The equity share approach for defining organizational boundaries is the emissions accounting method in which an entity reports its greenhouse gas emissions per each operation based on its share of economic interest. The percentage would reflect the extent of rights, or ownership, an entity has based on its profit and loss share of the operation.

Organizational boundaries can be defined using the control approach. This approach determines an accounting method where an entity will report 100% of its GHG emissions, irregardless of ownership.

Within North America, the Climate Registry distributes important information concerning greenhouse gas emissions. The Registry was established as a nonprofit and nongovernmental organization and now maintains important standards to calculate and report emissions in a unified manner. Some 330 corporations from government, industry and nonprofit sectors, are members of the Registry.

Organizational boundaries must be reported in full under the greenhouse gas emissions registry. Reports are required for revenue and nonrevenue services, administrative buildings, leased or owned stations and facilities, services provided under contract to another company, privately operated services, van pools and paratransit.

It has been known for a long time that greenhouse gases leads to global warming. Several environmentally damaging gases are found in refrigeration and cooling systems, and known villains include hydrochlorofluorocarbons, chlorofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons and carbon dioxide, methane, chlorine, bromine, nitrous oxide, methyl bromide, methyl chloroform, sulfur hexafluoride, hydroxyl, halons, carbon tetrachloride, fluorine, and the fluorinated gases hydrofluorinated ethers and nitrogen trifluoride.

In the Climate Registrys inventory management plan, facilities need to indicate whether they are reporting based on either the control approach with equity share using operational control criteria; control approach with equity share using financial control; control approach based on operational control; or control approach based using financial control criteria. The inventory reporting document also includes a facilities and association emissions section in which a master list of all the buildings under an entitys organizational boundaries must be listed, along with their addresses, percentage of ownership or control, types of emissions and type of equipment or source. Because of the complexity of emissions tracking and reporting, many facilities equipped with refrigeration and air-conditioning (RAC) systems or heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems are using refrigerant management programs to automatically track and report the information.

Since your goal is to get above the 700 mark you need a fast score system to get you beyond the petty problems at the lower brackets.

You should approach credit repair services with caution; they can get some of the negative items off of your report, it's true ? but this can actually affect your credit score negatively! If you have less than perfect credit, it's better to add accounts which are in good standing to offset the negative items on your report. You should aim to increase your credit score rather than simply trying to make your credit report look cleaner. A fast score system of some sort is the slick way to get this done quick.
